For elevation of the soul of
the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Shaliah,
Rabbi Saadia Jerufi, may he rest in peace

One little pasuk
a deep connection with the soul

Do you
want to know
your pasuk?

Write your full name in Hebrew (list all names if you have more than one)

What is a personal pasuk?

There is a custom according to which, at the end of the Shemoneh Esreh, the worshipper recites a pasuk (a verse from the Tanakh) that begins with the first letter of their name and ends with its last letter.

The custom originates in Rashi’s commentary on the Book of Micah, specifically on the verse “… and wisdom sees Your Name”: “The Torah saves from Gehenna anyone who daily recites a verse from the Tanakh that begins with the same letter as their name and ends with the same letter as their name”.

This custom is also mentioned in the books Shelah Ha-Kadosh, Arukh Ha-Shulchan, Kaf Ha-Chayim, Reshit Chochmah, Da’at Ha-Chachamim, Ta’amei Ha-Minhagim, Yalkut Yosef, and in other sources.

According to Chassidic teaching, a person’s name serves as a channel through which the soul receives its vital energy. When reciting a personal pasuk, a person strengthens their soul’s vital energy and maintains an ongoing connection to their name through the lens of the Torah verses.

The book Sefer Ha-Minhagim (The Book of Customs), as well as page 18 of volume 18 of Igrot Kodesh, the collection of holy letters of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, state: “There is a custom to recite a personal pasuk at the end of the Shemoneh Esreh prayer, before the second recitation of the phrase: “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable before You, Lord, my Strength and my Redeemer”.
Some Chassidim follow the custom of reciting, at the end of the Shemoneh Esreh, a verse corresponding to the name of the Admor (the spiritual leader of the Chassidic community).”

About the project
“Tell me your pasuk”

מייפסוק

This website was created in order for an ancient and meaningful Jewish custom to be accessible to everyone in a simple and clear way. For many generations, Jews have followed the custom of concluding the Shemoneh Esreh prayer by reciting a pasuk (a verse from the Tanakh) that begins with the first letter of their name and ends with its last letter. The custom was often mentioned in the writings of the Rishonim (prominent rabbis who lived before the compilation of the Shulchan Aruch) and the Acharonim (prominent rabbis who lived after the compilation of the Shulchan Aruch), and is thought to have deep spiritual significance. Despite its importance, many people find it difficult to locate a pasuk corresponding to their name, while others simply do not know where or how to find it. Our project was created specifically to address this need.

Thanks to a unique search system not requiring any prior knowledge or search through books, anyone can enter their name and instantly receive the corresponding pasuk, presented in a clear and user-friendly format.

The platform is built on a carefully verified and organized database of pesukim (verses from the Tanakh), focusing on simplicity, accuracy, and user comfort. In addition to locating a personalized pasuk, the platform allows the user to print a beautifully designed card containing their personal pasuk, send it to their phone, or share it with others.

The mission of this project is to make this custom accessible, to provide everyone with an opportunity to connect with it easily, to make it a natural and integral part of prayer and everyday life.

This project is dedicated to the elevation of the soul of Rabbi Saadia Jerufi, may he rest in peace. The idea of the project was especially close to his heart.
